The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the hotel. This role involves supervising staff, inspecting guest rooms and public areas, coordinating workloads, and supporting the housekeeping team to deliver efficient and high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants and porters
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet hotel standards
- Allocate daily tasks and manage staff schedules to ensure efficient coverage
- Train, coach, and support housekeeping team members to maintain performance standards
- Monitor and manage stock levels of linen, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and special assignments as required
- Respond promptly to guest requests, complaints, and special requirements
- Report maintenance issues, damages, and safety hazards to the appropriate department
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Maintain accurate records, including room status reports and staff attendance
- Support the housekeeping manager with administrative duties and operational planning
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in housekeeping, with supervisory experience
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards
- Good organizational and time management abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for reporting and communication tasks
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding role requiring extensive walking, standing, lifting, and carrying throughout the shift
- Hands-on position involving regular participation in cleaning tasks and room inspections
- Fast-paced environment with a high level of activity and multitasking
- Frequent interaction with staff and occasional guest contact
This position will work on a shift pattern, working 40 hours over any 5 of 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays.
